Interfaith Outreach Conference: A Morning of Learning and Sharing

Sponsored by the Interfaith Outreach Committee
Sunday, March 25, 9 -11:15 a.m.
Beit Kehillah
Join a workshop about interfaith family topics. Beth Am clergy will be joined by Dawn Kepler, Director of Building Jewish Bridges: Embracing Interfaith Families.

Schedule of Events:

9:00 a.m., "He Said, She Said - Male and Female Roles in Interfaith Families"

Dawn Kepler will speak about how male and female dynamics play out in interfaith relationships. In our culture, women, no matter what their religion, are expected to be the primary homemaker and responsible for the children. How does this dynamic play out differently if the wife and mother is the Jewish partner or the non-Jewish partner? How can both partners work together to create a loving Jewish home and family?

9:30 - 10:15 a.m. and 10:20 - 11:05 a.m.
Please choose one session for each time slot.

Life Cycle Events
Rabbi Sarah Wolf and Dawn Kepler will discuss the major milestones in the Jewish life cycle and the issues that commonly arise in interfaith families during these rites of passage.  We will explore how interfaith families can navigate challenges and create joyful celebrations of these sacred moments.

Beyond the Mezuzah: Integrating Jewish Principles into Your Home and Family Life
Rabbi Janet Marder discusses what makes a Jewish home. For interfaith families, this can be a difficult question to answer. Rabbi Marder will explore how parents can model and practice Jewish values in everyday interactions with children, to create a loving and spiritually nourishing Jewish home.

Participants are encouraged to share experiences. The conference is free of charge, but RSVP to Rabbi Sarah by Thursday, March 22.
