February 2012 Fund in Focus: Poltava Fund

Beth Am is a special community where people go above and beyond to help one another - not just at Beth Am, but far beyond our walls.

Our friends at our sister congregation, Beth Am in Poltava, Ukraine are one example. In Ukraine, it's not easy being Jewish, and it's not easy being a Reform Jew. Discrimination is rampant, and funds are almost non-existent. Thanks to the hard work of dedicated leader Cherie Half and many other Beth Am members, our sister community in Poltava is nourishing its members who are seeking to rediscover their Judaism. The funds raised by Beth Am go to support the education programs and operations of the Poltava community. Ukraine is today seeing a renaissance of Reform Jewish life.
