Habitat for Humanity

Habitat Interfaith Build

We are thrilled to announce the completion of the grading and foundation stages of Habitat for Humanity’s “All Faiths House.” That means it’s time for Beth Am to get ready for our build! We are collaborating with several area churches on a four-house development on Cleo Avenue in Cupertino, and need both financial and volunteer support in order to fulfill Beth Am’s commitment to the “All Faiths House.”

Providing safe and adequate housing for those in need is a core Jewish value. Rabbi Yehoshua ben Levi says in the Midrash: “When I went to Rome, I saw pillars of marble that were covered with blankets so that they would not crack from the heat or freeze from the cold. I also saw a poor man with only a thin reed mat below him and a thin reed mat on top of him” [Leviticus Rabbah 27:1]. Judaism teaches us that human beings are precious, and should be cared for as scrupulously as we care for any valuable object.

To provide financial assistance or to participate in the build please be in touch with Paul Anderson or Pam Lerner.
