Supporting our Sister Congregation in Ukraine In Ukraine, it's not easy being Jewish, and it's not easy being a Reform Jew. Discrimination is rampant, and funds are almost non-existent. Thanks to the hard work of dedicated leader Cherie Half and many Beth Am members, our sister community in Poltava is nourishing its members who are seeking to rediscover their Judaism. We welcome your donations to this fund that helps us carry out our vision of tikkun olam.

Since 2001, the Poltava Committee has led the congregation in providing financial, spiritual and emotional support to a Progressive congregation in Poltava, Ukraine.
Read moreThrough their work, the Poltava Committee enables Poltava’s Reform congregation to reach out to young Jewish families to help them rediscover their heritage. Additionally, the Committee strives to raise awareness of the plight of K'lal Yisrael (the Jewish people) in the Former Soviet Union (FSU). Beth Am is committed to raising $12,000 a year to support our twin congregation in Poltava. The Committee meets regularly to plan fundraisers, such as the Arts & Crafts Faire, Shabbat Dinners to Go and Poltava Parties. Close
