Our May tzedakah box proceeds will support Mercaz Ruth (the Ruth Center), a community outreach center located in a run-down, low-income area of Haifa, Israel. Mercaz Ruth serves a population of more than 200 young people ages 12-22, including both new immigrants and native Israelis who come from needy and highly-stressed families. All programs focus on character-building, team-building and youth empowerment.Your generous donations provide a path to a better future for these deserving young people. More information about Mercaz Ruth is available on the Leo Baeck website.

Tzedakah
Judaism commands us to give to those who are in need. At Congregation Beth Am, we strive to fulfill that mitzvah. Each month, funds are collected through the Tzedakah Box Project to go to a charitable cause that serves the needy.
Read moreThe cause rotates each month between a local organization and one in Israel, or occasionally to an organization that supports recovery from a natural or man-made disaster elsewhere in the world. If you’d like to propose an organization to receive funding through the Tzedakah Box Project, please contact the Beth Am program team. Close
