Avodah! Jewish Service Learning

Avodah! Jewish Service Learning

8th-9th Grades

Michael Mason, Director

Once a month on a select Tuesday 5:30 - 7:45 p.m. and once a month on a select Sunday 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Avodah! students learn about Jewish values that relate to community service, then enact those values through engaging offsite  service projects. Designed to fit the busy schedules of our students and provide an experiential learning opportunity, AVODAH! meets twice a month. Sunday morning or afternoon meetings take place at locations in the community. There will also be Tuesday night gatherings during TNP hours. Each meeting will include Jewish learning, a service project, and reflection.

The program year culminates with a required service trip which will enhance our understanding of key issues as well as provide an excellent opportunity for group bonding.

Shoah Intensive: Avodah! students will spend five weeks in January and February (every other year) learning about the Holocaust.

Note: Participants are strongly encouraged to attend Beth Am Temple Youth (BATY) and Beth Am Junior Youth (BAJY) events. AVODAH! participants will enjoy discounts and benefits of membership without paying additional fees.
