Tashlikh

Casting Away Our Sins
Monday, September 17, 3:45 pm
Palo Alto Baylands Sailing Station

The prophet Micah says, “God will take us back in love and will cover up our wrongs; God will cast into the depths of the sea all of our sins” (7:19).

As partners with God in this process of reconciliation and purification, it is customary to perform Tashlikh (“casting off”), the ritual of tossing bread crumbs into a flowing body of water to cast away our sins, symbolically. We’ll gather at the Palo Alto Baylands Sailing Station for a brief service and time for reflection. You may want to bring an umbrella to provide shade. In order to protect wildlife, the park rangers have requested that we use only very fine bread crumbs, which will provided.
