Tzedek Shabbat

Recognizing Jewish Disability Awareness Month
Friday, February 24, 6:15 pm
Sanctuary

Jewish tradition teaches us of our obligation to ensure equal access for all people and to help facilitate the full participation of individuals with disabilities in religious and public life. February is Jewish Disability Awareness Month, and Beth Am will be marking the importance of the occasion at our Shabbat Service. We will be hearing from several members of Beth Am who have a disability or who work in the disability awareness field.

After the service, there will be a community dinner and conversation with the presenters. We want to ensure that Beth Am is an open and welcoming community to everyone who seeks a sacred home. The dinner will be sponsored by the Poltava Committee and will raise money to benefit our sister synagogue in the Ukraine. (Sign up for or learn more about the dinner.)

In addition, the Beth Am Tzedek Council will be collecting used eyeglasses that will be donated to OneSight, an organization committed to providing clear vision to millions in need through the delivery of primary vision care and eyewear. Learn more!

The entire night promises to be a wonderful evening of learning and mutual support.
