Community Shabbat

Service, Blessing, Challah-Baking and Dinner
An architect's planning illustration of the Beth Am Patio

Come enjoy Beth Am's Shabbat service* under the trees, followed by a special community Shabbat potluck dinner. Tina Rosenblum, of Beth Am's Shabbat Committee, will give the D'var Torah. During the service, Rabbi Marder will offer a blessing to Rabbi Miriam Philips, our Director of Family Learning. We'll be joined by special guests from MVPA Musalla, serving the Palo Alto/Mountain View Muslim community. We'll have a chance to enjoy the delights of Shabbat together while savoring a beautiful summer evening. Please sign up below to bring a dish to share (enough for 10 people) according to your last name:

  • A-M main dish
  • N-Z salad or side dish
  • Beth Am will provide a delicious dessert!

(Kashrut information: please note that Beth Am serves food "kosher style," which means no pork or shellfish and we do not serve milk and meat in the same dish, such as meat lasagna. Thank you for observing in this way.)

*This service will be live video streamed. By entering the Outdoor Chapel, you give Beth Am permission to record you.
**Prospective member Shabbat is every Friday in August.

Like to bake? Sign up to come to Beth Am earlier in the day to participate in our challah-baking workshop!
