Parent Kesher

Parent Kesher - Beth Am's Parent Association

Do you have children in one of the youth education programs at Beth Am?

Have you ever wanted to help with a program but weren't sure what was needed or whom to call?

Beth Am Parent Kesher is the parent association at Beth Am. The purpose of Parent Kesher is to make it easier for parents to connect to other parents, to support their children's teachers, and to volunteer their time and talents to help our education programs.

Kesher means "connection" in Hebrew. This organization is all about making it easier for you to strengthen your connection to the education programs. All Beth Am parents with children in the youth education programs are automatically members of Parent Kesher.

Beth Am Parent Kesher offers many opportunities for parents to build community with each other, from volunteer activities with your child’s  education program to sponsoring speakers on topics related to Jewish parenting. If you have questions about Parent Kesher, send an email to Debbie LaFetra at parentkesher@betham.org.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What does Kesher mean?

A: Kesher means "connection" in Hebrew. We named our parent association Kesher because we want to make it easier for parent to strengthen their connection to their child's Jewish education and to the youth education programs at Beth Am.

Q: What happened to the Youth Education Advisory Committees (YEAC)?

A: In the Spring of 2007 the Education Steering Committee at Beth Am, after discussions with parents, staff, and clergy, decided to sunset YEAC. Parent Kesher provides a more inclusive way for all parents to support and be involved in Beth Am's Education programs.

Q: How do I find out what the volunteer needs are?

A: Check Tikshoret, the monthly youth e-newsletter, for monthly information. Or send an email to parentkesher@betham.org.
