Youth Education Programs

Tzavta ("Together")

Our 6th & 7th Grade Family B’nai Mitzvah Education Program

is designed to:

BUILD COMMUNITY
EXPLORE JEWISH TRADITION AS A FAMILY
ENHANCE SHABBAT CELEBRATION

At Congregation Beth Am, becoming Bar/Bat Mitzvah is more than just the service and celebration.  In Tzavta (“together” in Hebrew), our Family B’nai Mitzvah education program, we prepare students and their families for “the big day” by exploring the significance of becoming Bar/Bat Mitzvah and the meaning behind the prayer service while building and strengthening community.

The goals of Tzavta are:

1) to familiarize families with the Beth Am Shabbat morning service;

2) to create a sense of community among the 6th grade families;

3) and to learn the why, what and where of becoming Bar/Bat Mitzvah.

There are two main components to the 6th grade program

  • Families must attend seven learning sessions on either Thursday night OR Saturday morning (except for the first session which is on Friday, September 12).  The dates are listed below and families must R.S.V.P. for a particular session a week in advance.
  • Families must attend any 7 Shabbat morning services at Beth Am.
