April BAM Photo Group Meeting
April’s topic is the second in a series of Composition classes facilitated by Larry Shapiro. Larry developed the Composition instructional material specifically for the BAM Photo Group.
Participant images based on the assignment will be analyzed, and participants will better understand why certain images work compositionally. Very often shooting is simply about feel; the trick is to develop a good feel for composition. To improve their composition-skills, participants will practice each compositional idea assigned.
April Meeting Assignment:
- First, it makes no difference what type of camera you use to complete this assignment. This could easily be done with an iPhone.
- Make one photo each (preferably in black and white, but color is OK) demonstrating the use of each of the following elements of composition:
- 1) Line
- 2) Shape
- 3) Simplification
- 4) Negative Space
- Extra credit: This is not as easy as the above:
- 5) Fragmentation
- 6) Metaphor
Instructions for Submitting Images:
Number each image, including your first name, i.e. 01-your name, 02-your name, 03-your name, 04-your name
To be considered for presentation at the April meeting, all photos must be received electronically by Larry and Steve no later than Sunday, April 15.
