Rosh Chodesh Av

From Mourning to Dancing: Exploring the Themes of Av

From Rosh Chodesh Av until Tisha B’Av (9th of Av), we enter a heightened period of mourning, in remembrance of the destruction of the Temple. On Tu B'Av (15th of Av) we dress in white, (and at Beth Am, drink wine and sample chocolate) to remember the maidens who, in biblical times, danced in the fields in white garments to find their beshert (soulmate) in a celebration of love. Join Lisa Rauchwerger to learn more about these diverse practices which span the emotional spectrum from mourning to dancing, as we explore the themes through conversation and creativity.

RSVP or for more information, please contact Lisa, (408) 448-4972.

Rosh Chodesh is a program of Beth Am Women.
