Manny’s Place, a coffee house in San Francisco’s Mission district owned and run by the son of a Jewish Afghan refugee Manny Yekutiel, has been subjected to blatant anti-Semitic harassment. There are weekly protests outside the café most Wednesday evenings.
The protests outside of Manny's are an illustration of how easily boycotting Israel can slide into boycotting American Jews, and of how anti-Israel sentiment often bleeds into anti-Semitism.
To support Manny, Beth Am’s Jewish and Israel Advocacy Committee invites you to join a group of Beth Am congregants, to patronize and support Manny’s Place. The Editor of J. Weekly with be there that evening and would like to interview some of us. Please join us so that we are well-represented!
***Manny has advised that we not engage with any protestors. This means no eye contact or verbal exchanges.***
If you are interested in joining us, please meet us there and/or contact Helene. For more information on Manny’s, check out Manny’s Place website, read THIS STORY or THIS powerful article about Manny's Place.
