Learn More About Beth Am's New Chevra Kadisha -- Burial Society

In collaboration with Sinai Chapel, Beth Am is forming our own Chevra Kadisha (burial society) -- please consider being a part of it.

Our Jewish tradition has beautiful and respectful customs and laws for how to care for our loved ones after they die. Some of these traditions include taharah (a holy purification and preparation of the body for burial), sh'mirah (guarding the body before burial), and nechum aveilim (comforting the mourners, including helping mourners arrange for shiva minyanim and checking in with them in the days and weeks after the funeral).

Come learn more, including our training plans, at our upcoming information session on November 5.

Please contact Cantor Jaime Shpall, (650) 493-4661 or Debbie Mukamal with questions.

We strive to live as a holy community whose study and practice of Judaism inspires and challenges us to "do justice, to love kindness and to walk humbly with our God" (Micah 6:8).
