Qualified Charitable Distribution
Are you over 70.5 years old and have an IRA? A Qualified Charitable Distribution might be right for you!
If you are over 70.5 years old and hold an Individual Retirement Account (IRA), you are required to take a minimum distribution from the account each year. If you are planning to make charitable gifts, using a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from your IRA can be a beneficial way to do it.
By directing your IRA funds (up to $100,000 per spouse) directly to Beth Am, you bypass the taxation on those funds while helping to meet your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) and potentially lowering your annual taxable income. You can use a CDQ to pay dues, make Annual Campaign or From Strength to Strength donations, or make gifts to any other Beth Am fund. It’s simple – just contact your IRA fund custodian, and let our office know that it’s coming. And, if you’ve already fulfilled your RMD this year, or you turn 70.5 next year, we encourage you to keep this option in mind for the future.
