Senior Rabbi Transition: From Application to Selection
The Senior Rabbi search has reached the busiest time of its lifecycle. We started to receive written applications in September, and the pace picked up after the High Holy Days. The Search Committee carefully reviewed the resumes and personal statements, evaluating them based on the desired attributes and key issues identified last spring through the congregational input sessions and survey and ongoing feedback from congregants.
The Search Committee selected the most qualified candidates for interviews by video conference, using a set of identical questions designed to measure the candidate’s fit with Beth Am. From that process, a small number of finalists will be invited to visit Beth Am to meet our clergy and staff, learn more about our congregation, and have in-person interviews with the Search team. Some additional members of the Beth Am community will also participate in these visits in a manner that respects the confidentiality of the search process for our candidates.
After selecting a finalist, the Search Committee will forward its recommendation to Beth Am’s Board of Directors for approval, subject to subsequent ratification at a congregational meeting.
Thank you for your continued support during this process! If you have any questions or comments to share, please contact us at email@example.com; and for updates, visit the Rabbinic Transition page.
