Update: Thursday, December 22, 2021

Dear friends,

Like you, we are watching the Omicron variant with great concern for the health and safety of our community. While we have not yet seen a surge in our area, we anticipate it will happen in the near future. We urge anyone who has not yet received their booster to obtain it as soon as possible, as the booster seems to offer the best protection against breakthrough cases along with continued masking.

For now, Beth Am will continue to offer programs in a hybrid fashion, with in-person and online options.* We will continue to require everyone to wear a mask and show proof of vaccination, and we will ask those in attendance in the sanctuary to spread out in order to maintain distance.

Based on guidance from the California Department of Public Health, we ask anyone who has traveled outside California in recent days to take a rapid test (and ensure you are negative) before attending anything in person at Beth Am. In addition, if you have not yet received your booster shot, we would encourage you to consider participating from home instead of in person.

After January 1, we will determine if additional measures need to be put in place, especially during the first few weeks of January when this surge may be at its peak. You can visit the  COVID response page on our website for more information.

We wish you and those you love a healthy and safe new year ahead.

*Please note we had already decided to hold Torah Study and Torah Minyan virtually only for the weeks of 12/25 and 1/1.
