Immigration Refugee Assistance Effort
Sunday, March 22, 2026 • 4 Nisan 5786
2:00 PM - 4:00 PMSocial HallHelp support refugees through training and advocacy!
Training will be about on Know Your Rights and Rapid Response, learning how we can support our immigrant neighbors through witnessing, reporting, and accompanying. Advocacy will be to support immigrants and democracy by calling for state laws to protect immigrants and place guardrails on ICE. We will also petition businesses to stop supporting ICE. Projects may include:
- Contact CA State Reps about state actions we can take to protect our immigrant communities.
- Participate in a Jews Against Ice action (Sponsored by Bend The Arc and T'Ruah) to advocate for Signature Airlines (which works out of SFO and SJC) to stop supporting deportation flights.
- Contact members of Congress about pending legislation.
- Write postcards as part of the Reclaim Our Vote postcarding effort.
OTHER WAYS TO HELP: Though we cannot cure all the problems our friends face, as our tradition teaches us, we do not put aside the task of helping them.
- Please consider bringing $25 Safeway gift cards which will enable families to supplement their diets with much-needed protein food options. A collection box is will be available during the event.
- Donations to support Halfmoon Bay farmworkers may also be made online at alasdreams.com/donate. Donated funds will help Lawful Permanent Residents with their US citizenship application fees. (Their online fee is $710!) When you make your donation, you will have the option to put in the comments that you would like your donation to be directed to this effort.
Refreshments will be served. Come live our Jewish values in community.
