We are in a wilderness moment, a time of not knowing. The global pandemic, climate change impacts, social and political turmoil have many of us looking for — and not finding — a roadmap for how to navigate uncertainty that’s sticking around.

The Israelites constructed the Mishkan, or Tabernacle, in a wilderness moment. This 7-week workshop will consider that collective building of a portable space for the Sacred as one meaningful roadmap. Together we will ask, what would I offer? For me, what would that home for the Sacred contain? We will use free writing exercises, readings, music and visual art to explore personal sources of meaning and hope, to discover and share with others what sustains us in these challenging times. No writing experience is required. Please register by Tuesday, October 5 at 3:30 PM using the form below.

Kristen Yawitz is a writer, teacher and facilitator, who has designed expressive arts programs for youth and adults. In 2000, she created “Healing Through Writing,” a free program for anyone living with cancer in the greater Bay Area, offered through UCSF. Kristen’s writing appeared in a number of now-defunct literary magazines, and on KQED’s The Writers’ Block. She is a grateful member of Congregation Beth Am.

Sorry, Registration has ended.
