August Tzedakah Box Supports Free Summertime Breakfast and Lunch Program
Our August Tzedakah Box donations will help provide free breakfasts and lunches to hungry children and seniors in our area. During the school year kids from low-income families often get two or three meals at school on weekdays. That means summer break can be the hungriest time of the year for these kids.
Last year, the Mountain View Whisman School District provided more than 60,000 free summer meals to children under 18, as well as senior citizens. This year the school district will partner with Second Harvest Food Bank and Santa Clara County to offer locally sourced nutritious food at three sites from June through early August. Please consider a generous donation –- the need for nutrition doesn’t go away, even though school is out, and hunger doesn’t take the summer off. Learn more.
