Join Beth Am's Adult B'nei Mitzvah Class
Have you ever wanted to…
- Learn to read Hebrew?
- Study and teach Torah?
- Learn about the meanings of the prayers?
- Chant from the Torah?
- Deepen your understanding of what it means to be a Jew?
- Celebrate the rite of passage of Bar/Bat Mitzvah?
Now is the time!
Did you miss out on celebrating becoming a Bar or Bat Mitzvah as a thirteen-year old? Did you have a Bar or Bat Mitzvah but wish it had been more meaningful? It’s not too late! Join our adult B’nei Mitzvah class and deepen your personal understanding of what it means to be a Jew and a Bar/Bat Mitzvah, one who takes responsibility for mitzvot (holy obligations). Our learning will culminate in a joyful Shabbat morning service on June 27, 2020, during which the class will lead the liturgy, chant Torah and Haftarah, and deliver divrei Torah (teachings on the Torah portion).
Our class begins on Wednesday, October 23 and will be held every other Wednesday, 7:30-9:00 PM, through June, 2020 (we’ll take breaks for holidays). Students who are new to Hebrew will also be asked to take Beginning Prayerbook Hebrew with our wonderful teacher, Lisa Rauchwerger, which meets weekly on Wednesday evenings before the B’nei Mitzvah class.
Sign up using the online form by Friday, October 18, 2019. Questions? Contact Rabbi Sarah Weissman at firstname.lastname@example.org or Cantor Jaime Shpall at email@example.com, or call (650) 493-4661.
