Class of the Month: The Plot Against America

A Sequoia Hadassah Event with Professor Edna Aphek

Ellen Bob discusses Philip Roth’s The Plot Against America. This 2004 novel is a stirring work of alternative history that imagines the victory of aviation hero and isolationist Charles Lindbergh over Franklin Roosevelt in the 1940 Presidential election, and portrays its impact through the experience of a working class Jewish family in Newark, New Jersey. It is a work of literature that speaks profoundly to the challenges facing Americans today.

Ellen Bob has been talking about books with Hadassah members for over 30 years. She is Executive Director of Congregation Etz Chayim in Palo Alto.

While reading this book before this talk will enhance your experience, it is not required.

$15 Donation to Hadassah. RSVP to Leah.
