Friday Afternoon Book Study Group
Interested in reading and wrestling with Jewish books and topics? Join the Friday afternoon Friday Book Study Group to read and discuss thought-provoking books together. The Friday Book Study Group at Beth Am has a unique approach to studying literature, in which the book that has been chosen is read aloud in turn by the participants at each session, with frequent pauses for comments and discussion. Group members all read the book at the same time, and each book may take several weeks to be savored and completed. Books are generally scholarly non-fiction and concerned with Jewish history, culture or philosophy. In the past, the group has read and discussed works by and/or about Wiesel, Heschel, Spinoza, Maimonides and many others.
Join us for a pre-Shabbat opportunity to engage with important topics and thoughtful peers! All who are interested are welcome!
