  • URJ Camp Newman
Camp Newman (formerly UAHC Camp Swig and Camp Saratoga) has been a constant in our backyard Bay Area Jewish life. Camp Newman offers a range of summer programs for kids and teens entering 3rd grade through 12th grade. URJ Camp Newman’s summer and year-round programs are rooted in the Jewish principles of: Tikkun Olam, bettering our world; Tikkun Middot, bettering ourselves; Gimilute Chasadim, acts of loving kindness; Betzelem Elohim, all humans are created in a divine image; Talmud Torah, love of learning for learning sake; Ahavat Israel, love of Israel.

Camp Newman engages and operates under a philosophy of CARE. CARE is an acronym created by camp that is indicative of the positive learning environment we are always striving for. Through emphasizing these words/phrases: Community, Acceptance, Role Models, and Each and Every One, we aim to inspire a love of Judaism in our campers, staff, and leadership.

From a former staff member and Geza (leadership team) member: Camp Newman has provided me with countless opportunities to express my Judaism in a fluid, changing way. This place fosters growth and strength, secular and Jewish, for everyone that enters through the gate. This past summer at Cal Maritime being such a success really showed me how this community can be resilient through the aftermath of the Tubbs Fire and beyond. I couldn’t be prouder to be a part of this k’hillah k’dosha.
