Youth Education

Lifelong learning is an essential Jewish value. Congregation Beth Am offers a variety of dynamic educational opportunities for elementary, middle and high school students, which focus on experiencing Judaism and Hebrew in tangible ways and guiding our students on their own Jewish journeys.

Beth Am clergy, educators and teaching faculty give our students the tools to lead meaningful Jewish lives and to make our vibrant and holy traditions come alive. Youth Education sessions are as follows:

  1. Sunday, 1st Session-- 9:00 - 11:30 AM
  2. Sunday, 2nd Session -- 11:45 AM - 1:15 PM
    • Hebrew Program (starts at 11:10 AM with Sunday Program T'filah), 3rd - 5th grades - Sunday, September 8
    • Camp Beth Am (June 17-21, 2019 and additional days during the regular school year), 5th - 8th grades - All Camp Beth Am Family Education Day: Sunday, September 15
    • Lunch and Learn (select Sundays), 6th - 9th grade - Start Date: Sunday, September 8
    • Civil Rights Journey (select Sundays plus trip), 11th & 12th grade - Start Date: Sunday, October 13
  3. Select Sundays -- 11:45 AM - 1:15 PM
    • Confirmation, 10th grade - Start Date: Sunday, September 8
  4. Wednesday -- 4:00 - 6:00 PM
    • Hebrew Program, 3rd - 6th grades - Start Date: Wednesday, September 11
    • Hagigah (Theater Judaica Program), 2nd - 5th grades - Start Date: Wednesday, August 28

Jewish Community Federation and Endowment Fund has provided financial support for youth program scholarships.

For 3rd-7th Graders — 3rd graders get to participate in our innovative third grade curriculum, a camp-style Hebrew learning environment; 4th and 5th graders mix learning modern Hebrew and traditional prayers; and 6th graders focus on prayer.
For B’nei Mitzvah Students — In their B’nei Mitzvah journey to adulthood in the Jewish community, students attend weekly Beit Midrash class sessions to learn the ins and outs of the Saturday morning Shabbat Service, preparing to lead us in prayer. Learn more.
