Sunday Lunch & Learn

6th-9th Grades
Vicki Streeter, Interim Program Director
Sunday Lunch and Learn meets: 2-3 Sundays a Month from 11:45 AM - 1:15 PM
Students will enjoy a rotating menu of pizza, bagels, pasta and sandwiches that will ensure they are ready to learn!

6th & 7th Grade Lunch & Learn combines formal and informal learning while building community. The curricular content areas for this class will be Jewish values and Torah study.

The 8th Grade Lunch & Learn curriculum will be comprised of Jewish service learning, Holocaust education, as well as looking beyond the B’nei Mitzvah as our students continue to apply their Jewish knowledge in a variety of settings, such as debate or revisiting their B’nei Mitzvah Torah portion from a different perspective. The focus of 8th grade Lunch & Learn program will be on experiential learning, building community, exploring tikkun olam (repairing the world), our shared history with a focus on the Holocaust, as well as teaching Torah to each other. There will be opportunities for direct service projects at Ecumenical Hunger Program and the continuation of friendship bonds that have been developed in Tuesday Night Program, Sunday Program, Hagigah and Camp Beth Am.

9th Grade Lunch & Learn: It’s time to take your Jewish education to the next level. Our 9th grade students will learn about the fantastic beasts from Jewish texts and where to find them. We’ll explore some of the lesser known contributions to our world from Jewish inventors. Jewish representation in the movies will be explored as will incredible music from Jewish musicians. Your 9th grader will join Mike Mason and a rotating cast of guest teachers for what will be a great year of fun and unique learning opportunities.
