Mussar for Men
In this day and age, between work stress, demands of family, and a stressful national environment, now more than ever a man needs a place to examine and understand his proper place in the world. And while multi-gendered group dynamics are essential in both the workplace and home life, there is an important place for man-to-man communication.
Mussar is a 1000-year-old Jewish Spiritual Practice that helps us find those things inside that cause us to be stuck, and offers a step by step path to balance through mindful living in everyday life. Bay Area Mussar maven Greg Marcus created Mussar for Men to help you show up as your best self both at home and at work.
Join us for this highly interactive program of personal growth and authentic conversation. Every two weeks we will focus on a different “soul trait” to help spark an authentic conversation about who we are, and how to show up as our best selves. Participants will be asked to read the appropriate chapter from The Spiritual Practice of Good Actions before each meeting.
Here is what past participants in Greg’s Mussar for Men group had to say:
- “I enjoyed Greg’s Mussar for Men group, and I especially appreciated the lessons from his book. To this day, I continue to use the Mussar cards, which help me be a better leader, husband, and father. All in all, Greg’s Mussar is helping me be a bigger mensch!” - Zack Bodner, CEO Oshman Family JCC
- “Greg did a wonderful job of building community and setting expectations for the group – over time we became closer and the soul trait conversations became richer. My personal experience of focused reflection on how I can grow into a more fulfilling life was rewarding, and the lessons will last well beyond the time we spent learning together. Mussar for Men was, overall, a worthwhile use of my most precious resource, my time.” – Seth Leslie, Chief Development Officer, Oshman Family Jewish Community Center
Greg Marcus has been practicing and facilitating Mussar for seven years. He is a graduate of the Mussar Institute’s facilitator training program, Manchim, and is the author of The Spiritual Practice of Good Actions: Finding Balance Through the Soul Traits of Mussar, which is based on a class he created at Beth Am. Greg worked for ten years as a marketer in Silicon Valley, where he launched a product line that went from $0 to $60M in revenue in just three years. In 2016, he created a Mussar Parenting program to help him cope with two teen daughters. He received a Ph.D. from MIT, and a BA in Biology from Cornell University.
Cost: $36 per semester, or $72 for the year.
Register for the class by Friday, September 21 using the online form.
