Experience S'lichot: Film, Discussion and Worship

Each year, the Beth Am community enters the High Holy Day season on the night of S'lichot (meaning "prayers for forgiveness"). This year we’re screening Groundhog Day, a classic comedy (starring Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell) widely celebrated for its delightful wit and unusual exploration of the quest for moral and spiritual excellence.

Groundhog Day is a film that finds its note and purpose so precisely that its genius may not be immediately noticeable. It unfolds so inevitably, is so entertaining, so apparently effortless, that you have to stand back and slap yourself before you see how good it really is.”  --Roger Ebert

Following the film, Rabbi Marder will lead a discussion of how its themes relate to the High Holy Days. Then we'll join in a short S'lichot service featuring the beautiful music and liturgy of these Days of Awe.

Please visit the High Holy Day page for more information about High Holy Days 5780.
