Shavuot Yizkor Service
Join the Beth Am community for our Festival service on Shavuot morning, led by Rabbi Janet Marder and Cantor Jaime Shpall. The service includes Hallel (chanted psalms of praise) as well as Yizkor prayers of remembrance, and our clergy will read aloud the names of all those lost to our Beth Am family in the last year.
It’s customary to decorate our homes and synagogues with flowers on Shavuot – both as a reminder of the bringing of the first fruits to the ancient Temple in Jerusalem, and as a reminder of the giving of the Torah, which, our Sages say, brought a beautiful, new fragrance into the world. Those attending our Festival/Yizkor service are invited to bring flowers from home – preferably roses – to beautify our Beit Kehillah on Shavuot morning.
Everyone is welcome to share this special time of remembrance, which is followed by brunch and good conversation. If you have names of loved ones to be read aloud, please contact Alison Kronenberg, (650) 493-4661.
