Early Learning Access
Equal Start is the Beth Am social justice initiative whose goal is to provide access to high-quality early learning for all California children from birth to five years of age, with special emphasis of addressing the needs of underserved areas in San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties.
High-Quality Early Learning works, but limited access prevents the advantages of early learning from being available to all children. To accomplish Beth Am’s long-term strategic aggressive goal of providing access for all California children, we bring together Beth Am congregants with community partners to provide services to children, families and providers, and to advocate for more early learning opportunities across our state.
Our Equal Start initiative is comprised of three inter-related activities:
- Preschool Connections – Providing direct services to children and families, both in preschools and in homes.
- Professional Development – Creating and supporting actions which improve the skills and knowledge of early learning professionals in order to help create a high-quality learning environment for young children.
- Advocacy – Engaging in activities from educating the community to lobbying on behalf of improved funding and support that will enable high-quality early learning to become available to all children.
Beth Am also sponsors free, outstanding lectures and panel discussions throughout the year to spread the word and educate the community as to why high-quality early learning is so important to children and to our broader community. Please come and bring your friends and neighbors – these events are open to all.
Consider volunteering! Volunteer opportunities can involve a commitment ranging in minutes per month to hours per week depending on your interest and schedule.
