“Celebrating Trees Through Hands-on Visual Midrash”
With Lisa Rauchwerger

The Hebrew month of Sh’vat is the month of Tu B’Sh’vat, (15th of Sh’vat), the New Year of the Trees, celebrated by planting trees and ecological awareness. In honor of trees and their importance in Jewish tradition, we will explore a few short texts mentioning trees, and then delve deeper as we create a hands-on visual midrash using torn paper.
No experience necessary, in art or Hebrew text.

Please have ready for the program:
  • Colored construction paper/ tissue paper/ wrapping paper or other colored materials (magazines, etc.) that can be torn and glued to another paper surface (recycled paper even better!)
  • Glue stick, glue or tape
  • Larger (8.5” x 11” or larger) piece of paper/ construction paper/ cardboard/ cardstock to be your background — can be any color

All women are welcome! Please register/ RSVP using the form below to receive the access information.

Rosh Chodesh is a program of Beth Am Women.
