Thursday, June 12, 2025 • 16 Sivan 5785
7:30 PM - 9:00 PMSha'ar Zahav, 290 Dolores St., San Francisco and ZoomHear the gay shouts of liberation in the tents of the just! (Psalm 118:15)
Reciting the festival liturgy on Pride Shabbat was an important innovation — first celebrated at Congregation Beth Simchat Torah in New York in 1973 — and so was this early gay-inclusive new translation of the psalm.
This session, presented by New Lehrhaus and taught by Rabbi Yoel Kahn in honor of LGBTQ Pride, will examine the creation and evolution of early LGBTQ-informed and -inclusive liturgy in the 1970s and 1980s.
Please register to participate.
Note: Please save the date for Beth Am's Pride Erev Shabbat service on Friday, June 13 at 6:15 PM.
Presented by New Lehrhaus; co-sponsored by Congregation Beth Am, Shaar Zaahav, and Beth El.
