The Real Israel: Inspiration for 2021
Sunday, February 28, 2021 • 16 Adar 5781
3:00 PM - 4:00 PMZoom VideoconferenceBeth Am Welcomes Guest Speaker Richard Block, Rabbi Emeritus of Congregation Beth Am
Israel’s virtues and achievements are far too little known and underappreciated. Traditional and social media focus obsessively on its conflict with the Palestinians and on its defects — real, exaggerated and imagined. Thus, both Israel’s detractors and more than a few of its admirers are profoundly uninformed. Israel is vastly more than the sum of its conflicts and flaws. This truth needs and deserves to be known.
Rabbi Block, Rabbi Emeritus of Congregation Beth Am, will be addressing Israel’s outstanding worldwide contributions in many fields, including medicine, technology and the environment.

Sponsored by the Jewish and Israel Advocacy Committee (JIAC).
Rabbi Richard A. Block was recognized by Newsweek Magazine as "one of the top 25 pulpit rabbis in America." He is a Past President of the Central Conference of American Rabbis, the rabbinic leadership organization of Reform Judaism, chair of the CCAR Past Presidents Council, and Senior Rabbi Emeritus of The Temple — Tifereth Israel, Cleveland, OH. He initiated Beth Am's nationally renowned FSU Émigré Program, and received Jewish Family and Children's Services of San Francisco's FAMMY Award, "in appreciation of extraordinary caring and dedicated community service." His writings are widely published, including a recent article in The Times of Israel.
