During World War II, Jews were collected from every corner of Nazi-occupied Europe and sent to concentration camps for extermination. Over 6 million Jews perished and thousands of Jewish communities throughout Europe were devastated, with one exception.
On the small Greek island of Zakynthos, every single member of the Jewish community survived the war unscathed. It was a unique occurrence in the chronicles of modern European history and one of the greatest untold stories of Greek bravery and courage. This 40-minute documentary is narrated by Haim Konstantini, an 84-year-old Holocaust survivor who was born and raised on the island of Zakynthos and one of the 275 survivors who made history during World War II.
Please join for a free Vimeo screening of this film at 7:30 PM, followed at 8:10 PM by a talk with the producer and cinematographer Steven Priovolos. Register below to receive Zoom access information prior to the film.

Steven Priovolos is a Los Angeles-based Greek producer & cinematographer working on commercials, feature films, TV shows and documentaries around the world. After obtaining a First Class Honors degree in Physics, Steven went on to film hundreds of productions in over 70 countries. Steven decided that he wanted to become a filmmaker when he saw Steven Spielberg's Schindler's List as a teenager in a small Athenian cinema in the early 90's. Since then he has always been striving to create film projects that can inspire real, long-lasting change. Hence why the short documentary Life Will Smile and it's feature film narrative version Zante are Steven's most personal projects to date. Both films narrate the incredible and unique survival story of every single one of the 275 Jews of Zakynthos during World War II and highlight how, when we stay united, we can conquer even the darkest forces of our world.
