7:00 PM - 8:30 PMZoomMissed this program? Watch a streamed recording of the session with Abby Pogrebin.
We will spend a year together as a community, traveling through My Jewish Year: 18 Holidays, One Wondering Jew by Abby Pogrebin. We will explore what Abby and her book have to teach us personally, as families, as small groups with shared interests and ultimately as a full congregational community about the history, meaning, celebration and impact of our annual cycle of holidays. (Please read Beth Am President Amy Gerstein's promotional message on the One Book, One Congregation program.)
Abby Pogrebin will kick-off the year with an introduction to her book. To join the virtual conversation via Zoom on Wednesday August 30 at 7:00 PM, please register using the form below.
Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous congregant donor, every family in our congregation will then receive a copy of My Jewish Year along with their High Holy Day tickets.
Throughout the year, Beth Am members will be invited to engage with the book through discussion guides, activities, conversations, explorations and events for individuals, couples, families, interest groups and more.
Abby will then join us in person on the weekend of February 2-3, 2024, for a weekend of learning and discussion. Abby will be our speaker during our Friday night Shabbat service at 6:15 PM, lead Torah Study on Shabbat morning from 9:00-10:00 AM, and complete her visit with a discussion on Shabbat afternoon at 3:30 PM.
We are very much looking forward to a year of introspection, exploration, questions, discussion and soulful discovery – from one wondering Jew to a congregation full of wonderers.
