This Month's Topic: Ethics and Immigration

A century ago, a massive surge of poor and desperate East European Jews undertook perilous journeys to reach safety in America and begin new lives here. How did American Jews respond to their overwhelming numbers and needs in a complex political environment, with growing concerns about anti-Semitism in the U.S. and enactment of restrictive immigration laws? In this session, we will look back to the early 20th century for insights relevant to the 21st and explore vital ethical issues that arose both then and now. For many of us, those poor immigrants were our grandparents or great-grandparents. All are welcome to join for this timely discussion.

Join in this lunchtime series that explores topics at the intersection of philosophy, Jewish thought and contemporary issues. This is an interactive lunchtime discussion. All are welcome. For more information, please contact Shelley.
