Beth Am is pleased to welcome Akselrad guest speaker Rabbi Michael Lezak of GLIDE’s Center for Social Justice in San Francisco, an organization whose mission is to create a just and loving community to alleviate suffering, break the cycles of poverty and marginalization, and restore dignity to every San Franciscan and help them on their pathway to stabilization. Rabbi Lezak brings 100+ civic, tech and healthcare leaders on GLIDE’s annual Alabama Justice Pilgrimage. After the service, come together to enjoy some lovely oneg Shabbat refreshments!

This event holds special significance as we gather to honor our esteemed Rabbi Emeritus Rabbi Sidney Akselrad (z"l) and celebrate the enduring legacy he and his family have left within our community.

Rabbi Lezak is known for his dynamic leadership and dedication to fostering inclusivity within the Jewish community. With a background in pastoral care and a commitment to social justice, he has become a guiding force for many seeking spiritual guidance. Rabbi Lezak is sure to be a source of inspiration as we continue to build upon the foundation laid by our beloved Rabbi Akselrad, fostering a community of tzedek.

The Rabbi Akselrad Lectureship Fund, created in memory of Beth Am’s beloved Rabbi Emeritus Sidney Akselrad (z”l), is dedicated to providing speakers and programs related to social justice, ethics and/or human relations. Please consider making a contribution to the Rabbi Akselrad Lectureship Fund in honor or memory of a loved one.

If you attend virtually, please join the livestream starting at 6:15 PM. You may follow along in our texts for the Erev (evening) Shabbat service using the digital version (available for purchase) of the Mishkan T'filah: A Reform Siddur.
