Forgiveness and Repair As We Approach the Days of Awe: S’lichot Program and Service
Saturday, September 9, 2023 • 23 Elul 5783
7:30 PM - 10:00 PMSanctuary, Social Hall and LivestreamOur Days of Awe combine celebration and joyfulness with sacred reflection and repentance. It is a time for Jews all around the world and especially in our community to take stock of their lives and their actions from the prior year, seeking forgiveness and committing to improvement. S’lichot provides an opportunity for us to prepare ourselves for the High High Holidays.
We’ll be joined by Dr. Louis Newman the author of Repentance: The Meaning and Practice of Teshuva. Dr. Newman will lead us in a program on Repair, Forgiveness and Repentance that will help us prepare for the days ahead. Dr. Newman is the former Dean of Academic Advising and Associate Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education at Stanford University. He also was on the faculty of Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, where he is now the John M. and Elizabeth W. Musser Professor of Religious Studies, emeritus.
Following the program, please join the Beth Am community for Havdallah and a special S’lichot service.
