Programs for All Ages: Celebrate the Holiday of Shavuot with Torah and Community

The Tikkun Leil Shavuot is back! Join the local community for prayer, study, and schmoozing until sunrise (or at least until your bedtime). The Tikkun Leil Shavuot ("repair of the night of Shavuot") is a Kabbalistic practice that began in the Middle Ages. According to legend, the Israelites overslept the morning they were to receive the Torah at Mt. Sinai, and Moses had to hurriedly wake them up! To avoid making that mistake again, we stay up all night on Erev Shavuot, studying and preparing to celebrate the giving of the Torah the next morning.

Check out this schedule of the Shavuot program. (Zoom links not included. For a complete program with Zoom links included, please register using the form below.)

Registering with Kol Emeth is not required, but is strongly encouraged and appreciated.

A Special Request
The community comes together from a wide variety of backgrounds and approaches to ritual observance. As a community we want to respect Minhag Hamakom, the custom of the place in which we are gathered. As Shavuot falls into the category of Yom Tov, certain types of melacha (work) are prohibited by traditional Jewish law. Please help us observe the minhag of Congregation Kol Emeth by refraining from writing, cell phone use and use of other electronic devices. Thank you.

COVID Protocols

  • Masks are strongly recommended.
  • Kol Emeth will be hosting sessions in the largest classrooms and doors will be open.
  • Food will be served outdoors.

Hosted by Congregations Kol Emeth, Beth Am, Etz Chayim and Keddem, together with Gideon Hausner Jewish Day School, Kehillah Jewish High School, and the Oshman Family JCC.
