June Tzedakah Box: Benefitting Project Rozana
Our June Tzedakah Box supports Project Rozana, an organization that seeks to build better understanding between Israelis and Palestinians through health.
Through its “Road to Recovery” program, co-led by Yuval Roth and Naeem al-Baeda, thousands of volunteer drivers provide transportation for Palestinians, mostly children, from their homes in the West Bank or Gaza to hospitals in Israel for urgent medical treatments that are not available in their home communities. In addition to providing transportation at no charge to the patient, the project also provides medical equipment for those in need and organizes special recreation days for patients and their families. Project Rozana also works to improve healthcare in Palestinian communities by training Palestinian doctors, nurses and therapists in Israel.
While Project Rozana is apolitical, its leaders believe that compassionate assistance presents a unique opportunity for Palestinians and Israelis to get to know each other, creates hope in this troubled region, and can contribute, at least in small part, to peace between the two peoples.
