Pursue Justice: Become Involved!

The Pursue Justice committee was very busy this fall with midterm elections. We participated in postcard writing campaigns, once again, with the Center for Common Ground/Reclaim Our Vote, sending information on registering to vote and early voting to states with a history of voter suppression. We also worked with VoteRiders on texting and letter-writing campaigns, sending information on Voter ID requirements. It was great to see everyone at our in-person postcard writing parties at Beth Am. Midterm elections historically have low voter turnout, compared to presidential election years. This means that a few voters have a disproportionate influence on issues like education, housing, and criminal justice. It’s very important for Beth Am members to get out there and vote for our Jewish values! Find voter information at the League of Women Voters site. You can find other resources for voting your Jewish values at rac.org and bendthearc.us.

In October, we co-hosted a house party with Bend the Arc South Bay, a local chapter of a national Jewish action group that fights for justice for all. If you missed it, you can watch a recording of the event in Beth Am’s video gallery.

A call-to-action for you: This holiday season, send a note of gratitude to the elected officials who stand up for democratic values. Look up your representative.

The Pursue Justice Committee engages in non-partisan, pro-democracy work through voter engagement. Sign up for our mailing list.
