Beth Am Shared Identity Project: Phase 3
This is our third update on Shared Identity. To learn where this idea originated, please refer to Rabbi Nemitoff’s August 2025 sermon Finding Our Purpose-Shared Visioning: watch | read
After organizing a leadership team of Steve Carlson, Jim Heeger, and Daryl Messinger, a group of trained listeners and data analysis specialists kicked off Beth Am's Shared Identity Project in early 2025. The focused effort encompassed one-on-one interviews with congregants (with 250 completed during Phase 1) as well as a congregation-wide survey (with >400 responses submitted during Phase 2).
As we move into the third phase of the project, the team is sharing what congregants said about their needs and hopes for their Jewish life, community, and future. While the data learned will be shared during information sessions planned during the High Holy Days, leadership has begun processing the information for future actions. Ongoing work building upon this Shared Identity feedback will lead our community toward a continued, strong legacy consistent with the past and congregants' hopes for the future.
On Rosh Hashanah, all who attend in person will receive our first set of initial findings and insights. Following Rosh Hashanah, a brochure with more information will become available on this page beginning Friday, September 26.
