Solar Power Could Be Coming to Beth Am

There’s exciting news from your Beth Am Dayenu Circle Sustainability@Beth Am Action Team: solar-powered electricity could be coming to Beth Am! The project would involve solar panels on carports in the lower parking lot near Arastradero Road. The proposed design would be “future-proofed” to allow for the later addition of car chargers and a battery backup system.

Combined with the heat pump system installed last autumn for the Sanctuary and Social Hall, along with the planned replacement of gas water heaters with efficient heat pump units, Beth Am would significantly reduce its energy costs while also reducing its output of greenhouse gasses.

The team has a compelling proposal in hand and is reaching out to other possible providers. The project would be eligible for a 30% Federal rebate, and would pay for itself in fewer than 10 years. The project could also be financed through a solar lease.

We conducted our Listening Sessions and received great feedback regarding Beth Am installing solar power. Check out our Frequently Asked Questions on Solar.
