September Tzedakah Box: Jews for Abortion Access
This month, our Tzedakah Box benefits Jewish Fund for Abortion Access through the National Council of Jewish Women. Beth Am and the Union for Reform Judaism are committed to fighting for ongoing and easy access to reproductive freedom and justice. We understand that those who applaud the recent overturn of Roe v. Wade are often motivated by their religious beliefs and seek to impose their views on others. However, we believe that every person is his/her own moral decision maker, allowed to make their own decisions based on their own beliefs and consciences. Our tradition supports compassion, justice and dignity for all women and instructs us to care for the needy, the stranger and the vulnerable in our society.
Jewish Fund for Abortion Access helps fund the largest hotline in the country, helping individuals learn what they need to know to access abortion based on where they live. For individuals who need abortions, the program covers costs to travel over state lines as well as abortion charges at approved clinics.
