November Tzedakah Box: Leket Israel
Leket Israel is the leading food rescue organization in Israel. Unique among all other organizations that serve the poor in Israel and food banks worldwide, Leket Israel’s sole focus is rescuing healthy, surplus food and delivering it to those in need through partner nonprofit organizations.
Israel's southern residents are facing an unrelenting emergency, and they need our immediate support. Leket Israel has launched three emergency relief programs, working hand in hand with local non-profit organizations to address the pressing needs of those at risk:
- Meals for Homebound Individuals and Seniors: The goal is to provide 320,000 desperately needed cooked meals.
- Essential Supplies For Families: Leket is procuring essential items such as food, diapers, formula and more from local stores. This initiative not only supports struggling families, but also keeps local businesses afloat.
- Financial Support for Families and Individuals: Leket is distributing debit cards pre-loaded with approximately $65 each to individuals facing the ongoing challenges of this crisis, especially those who have lost their income or struggle to access aid.
Leket's dedicated team is working relentlessly, in close collaboration with the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) and security forces, to ensure the immediate and safe implementation of these programs.
