Dayenu Circle Solar Update
The Future of Rooftop Solar in California
While there are valid arguments for both sides, we oppose this proposal in its current form and believe that encouraging rooftop solar is a high priority for fighting climate change. The PUC has removed consideration of the plan for January, but still plan to introduce it at an upcoming meeting.
The Beth Am Dayenu Circle leadership team has prepared the attached analysis of the proposal and our opposition to it in its current form.
Call or email California State elected officials to express your opposition, including:
- Governor Gavin Newsom: Tel: (916) 445.2841) | Web messages: https://govapps.gov.ca.gov/gov40mail
- Senator Josh Becker: https://sd13.senate.ca.gov/contact
- Assembly Member Marc Berman: https://a24.asmdc.org/contact
Here is a sample script: “My name is ___ and I live in ____. I am against the proposed California PUC proposal that would dramatically reduce and penalize the rollout of rooftop solar in California in favor of large-scale utilities. California is the established leader in encouraging distributed clean energy solutions and fighting climate change. This proposal would send a terrible message across the country and around the world of our retreat from fighting climate change and decarbonization. We need “all of the above” clean energy solutions and cannot stake our global future in bankrupt utilities. Please say NO to this solar killer and yes to California’s continued global climate change leadership and investment in solar and other decarbonization solutions.”
Thank you,
The Dayenu Leadership Team
