Letting the Light In: An Open Conversation about Identity, Celebrity, and Mental Health. An intimate and timely conversation.

Jewish Family and Children’s Services (JFCS) have announced they will be hosting a free, virtual community event with Mayim Bialik, PhD, Actress and Neuroscientist of Blossom and The Big Bang Theory fame, in conversation with Dr. Anita Friedman, JFCS Executive Director.

Over the past year, the conditions of the pandemic have placed a strain on the mental and emotional health of people of all ages. Since the first COVID-related lockdown in 2020, JFCS has seen more than a 50% increase in calls for counseling and mental health consultations. On April 15, Mayim Bialik and Anita Friedman will reflect on Jewish identity, life in the spotlight, and the pandemic’s impact on mental health to shed light on what we all can do to take care of our community, our loved ones, and ourselves.

The event is one in a series of virtual conversations called ‘JFCS All Together Now,’ which launched in September 2020 with a conversation between Dr. Friedman and Dr. Vivek H. Murthy, 19th Surgeon General of the United States. The series’ aim is to bring the Bay Area and wider community into conversation, with the view that we are stronger together during the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
