Jewish Film Series Presents: “Matchmaking”
Saturday, October 14, 2023 • 29 Tishrei 5784
3:30 PM - 6:00 PMIN-PERSON ONLY EVENT: Beit KehillahFilm screening, 1 hour 36 minutes, Hebrew (a bissel of Yiddish) with English subtitles; Followed by discussion
What happens when two young ultra-Orthodox singles, both looking for a suitable match, collide with the Ashkenazi-Mizrachi prejudices of their parents? To the delight of Jewish film festival audiences across America, who voted Matchmaking an audience favorite, the young folks deal with the situation with determination, wit, sweetness and a dose of slapstick humor. This delightful Romeo and Juliet saga leaves out the tragedy while it turns on the charm. You will not want to miss Matchmaking our debut film of the season. (The Hebrew title of this film, Bachurim Tovim, means Good Boys.)
