Mikvah, or ritual bath, is one of Judaism’s most sacred and powerful rituals. The immersion in living waters (mayim hayim) marks a change in status. People immerse in a mikvah to celebrate moments of joy or in times of deep sorrow; to mark a conversion to Judaism or after other liminal moments in one’s life.

This three-session class will examine the origins and purpose of mikvah throughout Jewish tradition. We will also explore mikvah as a modern ritual and think about how we can make the mikvah ritual relevant in modern Judaism.

The final class will involve a group “field trip” to the Community Mikvah of Silicon Valley (located at the APJCC in Los Gatos). For more information please email Rabbi Jon Prosnit.

Please register by Monday, May 30, 3:30 PM using the form below. Zoom access details wil be sent out the day before the class series begins.
